Course Objectives The aim of this course is to teach students how to develop architectural detail drawings in building construction projects, explain construction project management terminology, and introduce construction planning, scheduling, and estimating. The course also aims to define the role of the architect in construction process, explain how architects provide interaction with other stakeholders in the industry and give insight about the communication and monitoring tools as well as the legislation during the construction process.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Will be able to draw architectural details of the construction project in various scales.
  • Will be able to research state-of-the-art materials and building components to be utilized in architectural design
  • Will be able to present architectural details in line with the graphic representation used in the industry, utilizing input from industry resources.
  • Will be able to create a construction schedule at an introductory level
  • Will be able to estimate cost of a construction project at an introductory level.
  • Will be able to prepare an offer for a construction project.
  • Will be able to give introductory level management decisions regarding issues of construction law, health and safety.
Course Description Building Construction Project I course constitutes the basis of the course. The students will first develop architectural details of the project they designed in Building Construction Project I course. Then they will make project take-offs based on the project and the details, and will develop initial cost estimations and work schedule

Course Notes/Textbooks The course aims to draw the construction details, to make material take-offs, cost calculations and work schedules in the frame of the project. The requirements and standards explained during the studio critiques will constitute the course notes.
